RCMP Arrest Man in Thompson After Shots Fired

February 28, 2014 7:10 AM | News

RCMP Crest LogoRCMP in Thompson defused a potentially dangerous situation on Wednesday night after a man barricaded himself inside a home after reports of shots being fired.

Just after 8 p.m., police were called to the Juniper area of town, where they say the suspect was believed to be inside with a firearm.

Neighbouring homes were evacuated while a crisis negotiation team made contact with the man inside. Three hours later, a 30-year-old intoxicated man came out and was arrested by police.

No one else was inside the home at the time and there were no injuries.

Charges haven’t yet been laid in the incident.
