Water Main Break Cuts Off MTS Service

March 2, 2014 3:58 PM | News

MTSA water main break has disconnected some MTS customers from their telephone, Internet and TV service in south Winnipeg.

MTS said underground cables were cut as city crews worked to fix a water main break in Fort Garry and Fort Rouge on Saturday.

Fewer than 1,000 residential and business customers have been affected by the service disruption, but MTS says they are working around-the-clock to repair the damaged cables.

“At this time, MTS has been able to successfully re-route most major fibre-based services and the repair work is ongoing,” a statement from the company said. “Given the extent of the damage and severe weather conditions, MTS does not yet have an estimated time of restoring full service.”

Wireless services remains operational, with the exception of one CDMA cell site that has also been impacted.
