The University of Winnipeg is awarding three honorary doctorates during a special convocation ceremony later this month.

Singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk is one of the recipients, along with humanitarian and champion of women’s rights, Dr. Denis Mukwege, and Joseph Stern, former chairman of Canada’s Refugee Status Advisory Committee.

“These extraordinary individuals are using their skills and talents to raise awareness and improve the lives of others,” said Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, president and vice-chancellor of the U of W. “This trio stands as role models to all of us, and most especially to the next generation of youth and students. We are proud to have them as part of the UWinnipeg community.”

The ceremony is open to the public and will be held in Convocation Hall from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on March 26.
