Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Patrolmen Hockey Team will be lending a hand today on Central Park’s skating rink.
The fifth annual Skates and Badges event teaches inner-city youth and families how to skate, and is a partnered activity with the Central Neighbourhoods Development Corporation and West End BIZ.
“This is the 5th year of the event which brings the local schools, agencies, businesses, and the police together. This goes to show the ongoing commitment by the local stakeholders to the central neighbourhoods where we work, live and play,” said Allan Wise of CNDC.
While enjoying Canada’s favourite outdoor winter activity, police also build relations with community youth and area residents.
Skates and Badges runs from 1-4 p.m. today at the corner of Cumberland Avenue and Edmonton Street.
