If you don’t already have lunch plans today, you do now.
The second annual Stone Soup fundraiser is aiming to raise $30,000 for the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., soups will be served in the lobby of Manitoba Hydro Place, where the public can taste three different kinds of soups for a donation of $10. Based on whichever one you like the best, you can then vote on the tastiest selection.
“For our inaugural Stone Soup event last year, we were pleasantly inundated with support from the public, chefs, restaurants, businesses and organizations, and raised $14,000,” said Viola Prowse, executive director of the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba.
Soup will be prepared and served by about a dozen of Winnipeg’s most popular restaurants. Pita bread, bannock, gluten-free bread and fruit will also be served.
Funds from the event will ensure that more Manitoba schoolchildren benefit from nutritious breakfasts, snacks and bowls of soup.
