Three Charged in Assault Behind Portage Place

Winnipeg Police CrestThree people have been charged after a 38-year-old man was assaulted and robbed behind Portage Place on Saturday.

Winnipeg police were called to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m. where they found the victim on the ground with serious, non-life threatening injuries to his upper body.

Three people were seen leaving the area shortly after. Two of the suspects were apprehended about 10 minutes later near Edmonton Street and Graham Avenue. A third suspect was taken into custody within the 300 block of Portage Avenue with the help of Air 1.

The victim’s stolen property was also recovered.

Police have charged Elizier Kakegamic, 42, Gary Ben Friesen, 25, and Billie Jo Cooke, 25. They remain in custody.
