Winnipeg to Implement Text to 911 Ability

March 23, 2014 9:00 AM | News

Winnipeg is preparing to implement a system where those who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired can text 911 in the event of an emergency.

As of March 18, those affected can register a wireless device with their provider to prepare for text to 911 (T911) in Canada.

Currently, voice calling remains the only way to communicate with 911 services in Winnipeg for those not in the DHHSI Community.
