A 21-year-old man was seriously assaulted Friday night while walking downtown.
Winnipeg police say the man was fronted by between eight and 10 men in the area of Edmonton Street and St. Mary Avenue at around 1 a.m.
One of the suspects had a handgun and another was carrying a knife. The victim was slashed with the knife in the upper body and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.
The suspects are described as aboriginal in appearance, between the ages of 18-25 and wearing dark clothing.
The suspect armed with a handgun is described as being 6’3″ tall with a husky build, 230-250 lbs. and clean shaven. He was wearing an “Ecko” brand hoody, a red hat and blue jeans.
The second armed suspect is 6’2″ with a skinny build, and was wearing a black hoody and blue jeans.
