Schools Roundup Food Donations for Manitoba Families

Winnipeg HarvestManitoba schools who have been collecting food donations tipped the scales at Winnipeg Harvest on Tuesday.

The 15th annual Operation Donation School Food Drive bested last year’s total by bringing in 29,043.50 lbs. of food. Manitoba Public Insurance raised 21,968.90 lbs. through donations bins in its offices.

Peak of the Market and Canada Safeway matched pound for pound the total weight of donations through the schools and MPI.

The week-long food drive took place from March 3-7 and included 56 participating schools.

This year’s food drive pulled in 40,000 more pounds than last year for a total of 153,037.20 lbs.
