Investors Group Field to See $3M in Energy Efficiencies

The Manitoba government is spending $3 million to help improve energy efficiency at Investors Group Field.

The investment will assist the Winnipeg Football Club in making the new stadium a four-season facility and attract a different level of events outside of the regular CFL season, such as a potential NHL Heritage Classic.

“It’s important that we enhance the as-built design of the stadium to more comprehensively realize its potential,” said Blue Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller. “This provincial investment will contribute to lowering operating costs, but it will also allow us to realize a complete sport, entertainment and hospitality business by expanding the range of events the facility can hold.”

Miller said the funding will help to ensure the long-term financial stability of the Winnipeg Football Club, which he expects to pay off in year one.

The province will work with Manitoba Hydro to identify the new energy-efficiency measures.
