Two men are in police custody after shots were fired at a home in the 500 block of Seven Oaks Avenue on Tuesday.
Police were called to the area at around 4 a.m., where they say officers noted damage to the home.
A Ford Explorer was spotted fleeing the area and officers caught up to it near Portage Avenue and Vaughan Street about 15 minutes later. A high-speed chase ensued and ended up taking officers to the city’s south end, where the vehicle crashed into a snowbank on Bairdmore Boulevard at Beaufort Crescent.
The canine unit caught the suspects after they fled on foot. Both men were treated in hospital for lower body injuries before being released to police.
In another incident, police are also investigating after shots were fired at a home in the 100 block of Walnut Street shortly after 1:30 a.m.
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 2 — Tamim Ahmadzai, 18, and Hamed Shahwawaz, 24, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the Seven Oaks incident. They both face firearm-released charges, while Ahmadzai has also been charged with flight from police.
