The federal government is providing new opportunities for seniors living in south Winnipeg to take part in social activities.

Winnipeg South MP Rod Bruinooge has announced $24,900 for Mennonite Seniors Care Inc. and $22,000 to the Korea Times for their projects under the New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Funding for the Winnipeg Mennonite Seniors Care Inc. will be used to create an outdoor classroom to encourage intergenerational activities between seniors and students. Seniors involved with the Korea Times organization will use their funding to create a photo exhibition of Korea War Veterans and then publish a book to teach others in the community about the 60th Anniversary.
