Man Dies in Crash South of Austin

RCMP Crest LogoA 74-year-old man was killed Wednesday after his minivan collided with a farm vehicle on Highway 34.

The crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. about 8 km south of Austin.

Manitoba RCMP say the minivan was travelling northbound on Highway 34 when it struck the vehicle being towed by a pickup truck travelling south. The minivan rolled and ended up on its roof.

The 74-year-old Holland man driving the van was pronounced deceased at the scene. His 67-year-old male passenger was treated for minor injuries in hospital.

The 30-year-old Swan Lake man driving the pickup truck wasn’t injured.

An autopsy has been ordered and police continue to investigate.
