On the opening day of campsite reservations in the province, the Manitoba Parks Reservation Service had accepted more than 11,300 bookings by 10 a.m.
Reservations for Birds Hill campground as well as cabins, yurts and group-use sites opened March 24, while reservations opened for all other provincial campgrounds on Monday morning.
“Despite the high volume of calls and Internet requests, no major incidents or problems have been reported. The reservation system is designed to track people’s access to the website and ensure they have the chance to make reservations in the order in which they logged in,” the province said in a release.
Most campgrounds are scheduled to open May 9, while northern campgrounds and, weather permitting, those along the lakes will open May 16.
