Spring weather can’t come soon enough for skateboarders at The Forks.
A group of Winnipeg skaters gathered on Monday to clear snow from the skatepark instead of waiting for Mother Nature to slowly do its part.
Armed with shovels and a couple of borrowed snowblowers, about half a dozen people came out for the snow-clearing efforts. The event was organized through Facebook over the weekend by Colin Lambert, owner of Sk8 Skates at The Forks.
“I just made an event page and invited all the skateboarders that follow us on Facebook and said, ‘Hey, come out with a shovel and help us dig out the park.’ We’re just hoping to speed things up,” Lambert said.
Wednesday certainly appears to be skateboarding weather, as Environment Canada is calling for a high of 15°C.
