The Manitoba government and the city of Steinbach have partnered to cost-share a $7 million upgrade to Highway 12.
The main artery into the southern Manitoban city will include four significant road improvement projects.
“As the gateway to the southeast for tourism and commercial traffic, it is important that all traffic, whether it’s heavy truck traffic or regular commuter traffic, be able to flow safely and efficiently,” said Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen.
Work will begin in stages of the next three years beginning this summer, and include:
- Improving the intersection at Park Road
- Creating a southbound left-turn lane and improving drainage at Madison Drive
- Improving the intersection at Millwork Drive
- Installing signals at the intersection of Acres Drive and Penfeld Drive
The province also announced more than $28 million in Highway 12 upgrades in the Ste. Anne area.
