A new dedicated bike lane is in the works for cyclists on Sherbrook Street.
The city will construct the lane this summer between the Maryland Bridge and Cumberland Avenue, creating the city’s first parking-protected bike lane (PDF).
The lane will be located between the sidewalk and a lane of parked cars and is intended to separate cyclists from traffic via the parked cars. The Sherbrook Street parking protected bike lane will extend from Wolseley Avenue to Broadway.
As part of the project, a curbside buffered bike lane will also be included on Sherbrook from Broadway to Cumberland.
The city says upgrades will also be made to bus stops on Sherbrook Street to improve the quality of the pedestrian and cycling environment.
