A Shilo-based soldier has been charged with sexual assault and other offences.

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) announced Thursday that master warrant officer Douglas Pettie, 49, of the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Shilo has been charged with sexual assault, assault and conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline under the National Defence Act.

“The Canadian Armed Forces do not tolerate sexual misconduct in the workplace, ” said Lt.-Col. Brian Frei, commanding officer of the CFNIS in a release. “Cases like this one erode the standards of military discipline and victimize everyone involved. The Military Police will thoroughly investigate any allegations of sexual misconduct and lay charges if appropriate.”
