April 12, 2014 9:28 AM | News

City of WinnipegWork on the Portage Avenue Bridge over Sturgeon Creek will affect traffic flow beginning Sunday.

Beginning at 10 a.m., lanes on the north side of Portage from Ronald Street to Sturgeon Road will be closed to traffic until August. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained on the south portion of Portage Avenue during the first phase of construction.

The second phase will see lanes on the south side closed from August until November 2014, when the project is expected to be complete. Two lanes on the north side will remain open during this time.

The city says the project will renew the life of the Portage Avenue Bridge by up to 75 years.
