Members of Winnipeg’s creative industries sector put their minds together on Monday to create an innovative new leadership development program.
Local museum and gallery managers are working to create the program to be piloted later this year at Alberta’s Banff Centre.
“Once fully launched, this program will address the challenges increasingly faced by the creative industries in being more self-sufficient,” said Jerry McGrath, Banff Centre’s director of innovation and partnerships. “It will help develop the skills, networks and visions that will enable institutions to better engage, educate, and enrich their communities.”
Following roundtables, a prototype program will be presented to established and emerging creative industry professionals during the Banff Summer Arts Festival. The pilot program will then be offered first to mid-career museum and gallery professionals and then to other parts of the sector as development progresses.
