Darcy Oake of Winnipeg Wows ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

It takes a lot to impress Simon Cowell, but a Winnipeg man competing on “Britain’s Got Talent” stunned the former “American Idol” judge with his impressive magic act.

Darcy Oake, son of CBC sportscaster Scott Oake, wanted to be a doctor growing up but a career as an illusionist led him to the big stage instead.

The 26-year-old is a master of sleight of hand tricks, making a series of doves appear from thin air. The judges were left speechless at his talent, which he travelled overseas to perform in front of a global audience.

“You are without question the best magician we’ve ever had on this show,” Cowell raved. “You weren’t corny, you were very different and I think we have uncovered a start with you, I really do.”

Oake received four “yes” votes from the judges on Saturday and has moved on to the next round.
