Downtown Winnipeg BIZThe Downtown Winnipeg BIZ has organized an Earth Day Clean-up on Tuesday to make the downtown more clean and vibrant.

Local celebrities will join more than 300 business and community members to pick up litter during two separate shifts in the ninth annual event.

The first group will focus on north downtown at Thunderbird House from 9-11:30 a.m., while the second group will target Millennium Library Park from 2-4:30 p.m.

“A clean and green downtown is vital for any healthy city,” said Stefano Grande, executive director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “This event connects business people with our Metro Enviro-Team so they can see firsthand the important work they do, and how valuable it is to have a downtown that is spotless, clean and inviting.”

Anyone interested in pitching in is invited to show up to either location. The first 150 participants at each location will also receive a free Tim Hortons travel mug, in addition to 150 plantable trees. Over 240 Winnipeg Goldeyes tickets will also be handed out.
