Canadian Tire officially opened its Cloud Nine Digital Innovation Centre in downtown Winnipeg Tuesday.
The 28,000 sq. ft. centre houses a digital content warehouse, application lab, testing lab and high-performance data centre.
The new centre will serve as the core hub for all of the company’s digital services, which includes Canadian Tire, Mark’s, several sports stores like Sport Chek, Partsource, Gas+ and others.
“The launch of the Cloud Nine Digital Innovation Centre is one of the biggest digital endeavours ever taken on by the company — the applications we are developing here will enhance the in-store shopping experiences for our customers, turbo-charge their interaction with our brands online and provide great improvements to our back-end operations,” said Canadian Tire senior VP Eugene Roman.
Premier Greg Selinger and other dignitaries were on hand for the opening. The centre adds 50 jobs to Winnipeg’s downtown and is located at the Air Canada Centre on the 9th floor.
