James Richardson International Airport (WINNIPEG AIRPORTS AUTHORITY)
Traffic is still flying in and out of the Winnipeg Richardson International Airport this year.
The Winnipeg Airports Authority reported an increase in passenger traffic over the first three months of 2014, up 1.1 percent over the same time frame last year.
“As the quarter ended, we were pleased to note incremental increases in our region’s passenger traffic volume,” said Barry Rempel, CEO of the WAA.
“Winnipeg Richardson International Airport was a hub of activity this quarter as some of our carriers expanded service options, our passengers took advantage of routes offering an escape from a record breaking cold winter, and Olympic and Paralympic athletes returned home to our airport with numerous medals.”‘
WestJet Encore launched daily non-stop service between Winnipeg and Regina and Saskatoon, and Sunwing added Freeport, Bahamas to their destination list from the city.
The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel also opened during this quarter, said the WAA.
