Winnipeg Man Arrested For Two March Robberies

Winnipeg Police CrestA Winnipeg man has been arrested after two store robberies earlier this year.

Police said a man walked into a gas station store in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue on March 11 just before 8:30 a.m. The man approached the 24-year-old clerk and demanded cash, which he received before running away.

Later that day, a man walked into a food mart on William Avenue, selected some merchandise and got in line. Once he reached a female clerk, he produced a knife and demanded the contents of the cash register. He ran away when another employee entered the store.

Police arrested Matthew Stevens, 27, and have charged him with two counts of robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and failing to comply with a probation order. He has been detained.
