Winnipeg Police Arrest Man in Bus Shelter Beating

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police say they have arrested a man who assaulted a man at a bus shelter Thursday.

Police said they were called to the scene at about 6:40 a.m. on Main Street near William Avenue. There, a witness told them a man was being assaulted in a bus shelter by another man. The suspect then robbed the man and ran north on Main Street.

Police chased down the man, who they said became aggressive and combative. Police said they were able to de-escalate the situation and take him into custody.

The 51-year-old victim is in stable condition.

Police have arrested Konrad Sandy, 34, and charged him with numerous offences including assault, assaulting a police officer and robbery.
