Winnipeg’s tallest skyscraper has new owners after being sold to two Saskatchewan companies.

The Asper family, under the company Asper Tower Inc., has sold 201 Portage to Harvard Developments Inc. and Greystone Managed Investments Inc. The 32-storey office tower sits at the corner of Portage and Main and houses a number of companies, including Thompson Dorfman Sweatman, MNP and Global Winnipeg.

The deal is expected to close at the end of May and includes an empty lot at 416 Main Street and the building’s adjoining parkade.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of the sale process and wish Harvard and Greystone the best as they assume stewardship of this important asset in our downtown,” shareholders David, Gail and Leonard Asper said in a release.

Financial terms of the sale to the Regina-based development companies were not disclosed.
