A new locally-produced web series hoping to get off the ground is aiming to raise $22,000.

“The Communers” centers around newly arrived communal residents, Jack (Steve Grant) and Brandi (Aisha Alfa), as they attempt to start their new life off the grid while surrounded by an ensemble cast of unconventional characters.

A Kickstarter campaign to produce the series has reached more than $5,000 of its goal. If successful, production will begin this summer.

The cast features an array of professional local comedians, improvisers and actors, with the support of ACTRA Manitoba. Will Antoniuk is the writer/director of the project, with Mike Sanders producing and heading up photography direction.

Those who pledge their support by May 4 have a variety of packages available to them, such as a walk-on role in the series, signed DVDs and dream catchers.
