May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in Manitoba

May 3, 2014 3:19 PM | News

WINNIPEG — About 100 motorcyclists rode up to the Manitoba legislature on Saturday afternoon.

May has been declared Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in the province, as riders rallied to raise awareness of distracted driving, safe riding and the ever-changing road conditions that affect riders.

St. Norbert MLA Dave Gaudreau — a motorcyclist himself — spoke on behalf of Infrastructure and Transportation Minister Steve Ashton to address riders’ concerns.

The rally was organized by the Coalition of Manitoba Motorcycle Groups and supported by Manitoba Public Insurance and Safety Services Manitoba. Winnipeg police also showed up to lend their support.
