An open house this week will give Winnipeg residents an opportunity to voice their opinions on infrastructure improvements in the Polo Park area.
The city is holding the open house on Thursday, May 8 to show off the detailed project design, discuss the construction plans and measures that can be taken to lessen impacts to area businesses, residents, and commuters.
The plans will ease traffic flow and congestion at intersections, encourage active transportation, and improve pedestrian accessibility.
Plans for the cost-shared project between the city and province call to:
- Extend/widen St. Matthews Avenue from Route 90 to St. James Street
- Widen St. Matthews Avenue from St. James Street to Empress Street
- Widen St. James Street from Maroons Road to Ellice Avenue
- Intersection improvements at Ellice Avenue/St. James Street and St. Matthews Avenue/St. James Street
The drop-in format information session will be held in the centre court of Polo Park Shopping Centre from 4-8 p.m.
Construction is to begin later this year and scheduled for completion in 2015.
