Assiniboia Downs
A lack of entries has forced Assiniboia Downs to cancel live racing on Friday, May 9.
“We have a sufficient inventory of horses on the grounds, however, mainly due to the poor weather conditions that impaired regular spring training, including a delayed opening of the main track for morning exercise, we do not have an adequate amount of horses prepared to run over a period of three consecutive days,” said CEO Darren Dunn. “More horses will be arriving shortly from other race meets that are set to conclude soon.”
Live racing will continue as originally scheduled on Saturday, May 10 at 7 p.m. and Mother’s Day Sunday, May 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Despite the cancellation, the track will still operate from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday to offer its other services, including simulcast racing from other tracks.
