Nuit Blanche Winnipeg is seeking art submissions ahead of the fifth annual event on September 27.
Proposals from students enrolled in any post-secondary institution in Manitoba are invited to submit their work. Five finalists will be selected to showcase their projects as part of Nuit Blanche Winnipeg and receive a $250 honorarium.
“We’re seeking contemporary art submissions from artists of all kinds,” said Monica Lowe, chair of Nuit Blanche Winnipeg 2014. “From performances in alleyways and projections on buildings to installations that light up our bus stops, our aim is to share art with the community, and push the boundaries of art in public spaces.”
The calls include one for student art, Emerging Voices, as well as a general call, Illuminate the Night. Both opportunities are open to artists working in any medium.
Nuit Blanche Winnipeg events and exhibits are spread across three “zones” in the centre of the city: Downtown, the Exchange District and Saint Boniface. The event is held annually on either the last Saturday of September or the first Saturday of October as part of the national Culture Days weekend.
