Police Agencies Collecting Unwanted Prescription Drugs

May 9, 2014 11:58 AM | News

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Drop Off Day, where local police agencies will be collecting unwanted, expired or unused prescription drugs.

Winnipeg police are accepting drop offs at four city locations from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • Downtown — Public Safety Building Service Centre — 151 Princess Street
  • East Winnipeg — East District Service Centre — 1750 Dugald Road
  • North Winnipeg — District 3 Service Centre — 260 Hartford Avenue
  • West Winnipeg — West District Service Centre — 2321 Grant Avenue

Flushing prescription medication down the drain or tossing them in the garbage can be an environmental hazard.

The one-day drug drop is free and anonymous.

During the rest of the year, medication can be disposed safely at any local pharmacy through the Manitoba Medication Return Program.
