The City of Winnipeg has a messaged for all drivers: park smart.

Parking enforcement officers will be out this weekend at large community events, such as neighbourhood garage sales, ensuring motorists are not parked illegally.

“Vehicles parked illegally at bus stops, near fire hydrants, double-parked or in other illegal situations can cause obstructions that delay fire engines, rescue, ambulance, police and other emergency responder units on their way to emergencies. Illegal parking can also impact transit service to citizens,” the city said in a release.

Staff will provide information to drivers and ask them to move their vehicles if parked inappropriately before issuing tickets or towing the vehicles.
