A record number of MD degrees will be handed out at the University of Manitoba today during the 135th convocation.
The university is graduating 109 medical students, celebrating the largest school class on record for the program.
“We are about to see 109 MDs start their careers as compassionate physicians, advocates and leaders,” said Brian Postl, Dean of Medicine. “I am delighted that 90 graduates will remain in Manitoba to complete their residency programs and deliver high quality patient care across the province.”
Thirty-four graduands will be completing a residency in Family Medicine in Manitoba, including 19 in rural areas and one in the bilingual stream.
The convocation will be held in the Brodie Centre Atrium, 727 McDermot Avenue, at 10:30 a.m.
