Shameless Propaganda (HANDOUT)

To mark the 75th anniversary celebrations of the National Film Board of Canada, Winnipeg filmmaker Bob Lower’s new feature documentary will be screened at the WAG.

Shameless Propaganda” will play in the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Muriel Richardson Auditorium on May 20 at 7 p.m.

Lower recreates the picture of Canada from 1939 to 1945 based on watching all 500 NFB films produced during that time period. Using only films and still photos from that era, what he finds is enlightening, entertaining, and unexpectedly disturbing.

Following the free 72-minute screening, both Bob Lower and executive producer David Christensen will be in attendance to take questions from the audience.

Shameless Propaganda had its world premiere on May 3 at the DOXA Documentary Film Festival in Vancouver. The film is also available for viewing at NFB.ca and on DVD.
