The city, province and Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg are partnering to revitalize the Sherbrook Pool after it closed in 2012 due to safety concerns.

After $4 million in renovations, the Kinsmen Sherbrook Pool will return to a place for health and fitness to serve Winnipeg’s core area communities.

“We hope that our contribution to this worthwhile cause will help make the Kinsmen Sherbrook Pool the facility that future generations from around the entire city will be proud to visit,” said Raj Phangureh, president of the Kinsmen Club, which provided $1 million through a Sponsor Winnipeg contribution.

Rehabilitation will include structural repairs to the roof, support beams and pool tank, mechanical repairs to the water service, drainage and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical and fire alarm system upgrades as well as change room improvements.

Repairs on the more than 80-year-old building are expected to take nine to 12 months to complete. The pool is will reopen in late 2015 or early 2016.
