The first outdoor farmers’ market at The Forks will open this weekend.
The market will feature an all local line up of delicious baked goods, locally raised meats and eggs, preserves, produce, plants and crafts from all over the province.
“Our philosophy at The Forks has always been to keep it local. We’re extending that to our outdoors Farmers’ Market this year in a big way,” said Paul Jordan, chief operating officer of The Forks. “For the first time we’ve sourced and will be welcoming over two dozen local farmers, brewers, artisans and bakers in one big parking lot in front of The Forks Market.”
The market will run every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until October, excluding September 21, rain or shine. This year’s theme is “make it, bake it, grow it.”
“If this is successful we would happily add the rest of the parking lot, which is what it was intended to be when we opened 25 years ago. We could go up to as many as 50 vendors,” Jordan addded.
