Maple Leaf Foods has donated 13,000 packages of hot dogs to Winnipeg Harvest to celebrate the May long weekend.
The food processing company is distributing about four million packages of hot dogs to food banks across the country to mark Victoria Day.
“We appreciate Maple Leaf Foods’ support at this critical time. Addition of meat products to hampers adds to the value of the hampers we distribute to families,” said David Northcott, executive director of Winnipeg Harvest. “Currently we share food with more than 50,000 Winnipeggers and an additional 10,000 people in rural areas; with nearly half being children.”
Among their services, Winnipeg Harvest offers training opportunities to help people “step up and out of poverty.” Harvest’s goal is to ultimately eliminate the need for food banks in the community.
