WINNIPEG — Hudson the polar bear had to share the spotlight on Wednesday with Prince Charles.
The famous bear is the Assiniboine Park Zoo’s star attraction, but when the royals are in town, Hudson’s celebrity takes a bit of a backseat. Charles toured the zoo on the final day of his Canadian tour and fed Hudson using a pair of tongs.
The two-year-old bear quickly ate the treat served up to him as zookeepers looked on. The event was part of positive reinforcement training for Hudson.
Charles also learned about the history of Winnie the Bear, toured the Pooh Gallery and the soon-to-open Journey to Churchill exhibit.
Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was visiting the Royal Winnipeg Ballet at the same time. The royal couple will wrap up their tour tonight.
