Winnipeg’s New Flyer Industries has received an order to manufacture 34 clean diesel buses for York Region Transit.
The transit authority will purchase the buses by exercising the option in an already existing contract with New Flyer.
The buses, all Xcelsior 40-foot heavy-duty bus models, are anticipated to be manufactured in the second quarter of 2014 to be delivered by the end of the third quarter this year.
With a fleet of approximately 335 heavy duty transit vehicles, York Region Transit serves an annual ridership of more than 22 million passengers.
