The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is taking its show on the road to Dauphin to perform outdoors on August 24.
Symphony Under the Sky will see the WSO play at Selo Ukraina, the site of Dauphin’s Countryfest, with a 50-piece orchestra that will highlight the spectacular outdoor amphitheater.
“I’m excited to be back in Dauphin this summer to play a fun program from beautiful symphonic music with Khachaturian, Brahms and Beethoven all the way to rock ‘n’ roll with Elvis Presley,” said WSO music director Alexander Mickelthwate. “It’s going to be a musical world tour as we perform music from Finland, France, Germany, Poland, Russia, and America.”
Besides the WSO, the festival will include artisan showcases featuring all kinds of artists and unique performers, plus fine food and drink and family-friendly entertainment.
Tickets to the day-long event are $30 (adults 20+), $18 (teens 13-19) and free for children 12 and under. Tickets are on sale now at the Countryfest office, Watson Art Centre or online at CountryFest.ca. Gates open at 11 a.m.
