Arrest Made in Homicide of MacGregor Senior

UPDATE: Sunday, June 1 — Jason Conway, 21, of MacGregor has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death. He will appear in Portage la Prairie court on Monday.

RCMP are still requesting information relating to the investigation.

UPDATE: Wednesday, May 28 — The deceased has been identified as Niels “Arne” Nielsen, 96, MacGregor, Manitoba. An autopsy has been performed, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

Police have not made arrests in this matter and are asking for the public’s assistance.

Anyone who may have spoken to or seen Nielsen in the days leading up to May 25, or who may have any information regarding his death are asked to contact the Portage la Prairie RCMP at (204) 857-4445. Nielsen was frequently outside in his yard at 13 Talbot Street East in MacGregor.

RCMP are investigating a homicide in MacGregor, Manitoba.

Details are minimal in the press release Mounties sent out shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday, but a report from the community says police tape has gone up around a home at the corner of Talbot Street and Fox Street

MacGregor is about 130 km west of Winnipeg just south of the Trans-Canada Highway.
