Three children aboard a school bus near Virden Friday weren’t injured after their ride to school was hit by a semi-trailer truck.
The accident happened just before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 41 and the Trans-Canada Highway.
RCMP say the southbound bus attempted to turn east on the Trans-Canada when the front end of the bus was struck by the eastbound semi, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
The bus driver suffered minor injuries.
As of 10 a.m., both lanes of the Trans-Canada highway are blocked by the collision. Traffic has been rerouted by RCMP, but police are advising motorists to expect delays.
The crash is under investigation.
