A new personal care home is planned for Transcona, adding 100 new beds to the community.
The new, modern facility in East Winnipeg will be under the umbrella of Park Manor Personal Care Homes Inc. and be the second phase of the existing care home next door bearing the same name.
The home will be constructed at the corner of Kildare Avenue East and Redonda Street.
Once complete, the facility — also located next to East Park Lodge independent living complex for seniors — will be connected to the two other buildings by a new concourse.
“Transcona is a rapidly growing community and Park Manor is excited about this expansion on our site, especially with the addition of private rooms that will allow us to serve residents with a variety of needs for many years to come,” said Ron Nelson, board chair of Park Manor.
In addition to having individual resident rooms with private washrooms, the facility will include space for recreational activities, family areas and landscaped outside grounds.
Preliminary design work is underway and construction is expected to begin in 2015 on the two-year project.
