Another specialty Manitoba licence plate will soon be available to motorists.

The University of Winnipeg plate will go on sale June 9 at Autopac agents across the province.

The plate, which costs $70, is being administered by Manitoba Public Insurance and will see $30 of the fee going toward scholarships for Wesmen Athletes and inner-city youth sports and recreation programming.

“This plate allows current, former and future students – as well as parents, friends, donors, alumni, faculty and staff — to let the world know they are proud to be part of the UWinnipeg community,” said Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Winnipeg.

Other specialty plates currently available to drivers include Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Goldeyes, Winnipeg Blue Bombers (x2), Curl Manitoba, Brandon Wheat Kings, Fish Futures, and the Winnipeg Humane Society. Plates for classic car owners, veterans and firefighters are also available.
