WINNIPEG — The countdown is on until the best women’s soccer players in the world descend on Winnipeg for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.

The city is hosting a number of matches along with other Canadian cities during the month-long tournament.

An official 10-foot-high clock counting down the days to the start of the matches was unveiled Friday at The Forks.

“Having playing host to the USA this past May, Winnipeg came out 28,000 strong and got a taste of what’s to be expected in a year’s time when World Cup matches come to this city,” said Team Canada midfielder and Winnipegger Desiree Scott. “Having a World Cup in your home country is one a soccer player only dreams of and is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Officials also released details on tickets, which go on sale September 10 with the initial phase offering stadium passports for every match at a particular host city. Prices will range from $95 in category four to $260 in category one. Individual tickets will also go on sale.

Winnipeg’s host venue, Investors Group Field, will accompany others in Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton.

Winnipeg matches:

Group D Stage doubleheader: Monday, June 8
Group C Stage doubleheader: Friday, June 12
Group A & B Stage doubleheader: Monday, June 15
