Liberal Party members in the Winnipeg South Centre riding are voting to nominate a candidate in the next federal election today.
Maurice Alexander, Jim Carr, and Karen Taraska-Alcock are vying for the nomination, where more than 2,000 party members will vote from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Centro Caboto Centre.
“Maurice, Jim and Karen have done a tremendous job in engaging the residents of Winnipeg South Centre and harnessing the energy and enthusiasm that has been growing in the riding for Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party,” said Jason Gisser, president of the Winnipeg South Centre Federal Liberal Association. “I know that any of these three individuals will be a fantastic candidate for us in the next federal election.”
Candidate speeches will begin at 6:30 p.m., with results announced between 10-10:30 p.m. Paul Edwards, a Winnipeg lawyer and former leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party, will chair the meeting.
