The City of Winnipeg will raise the ALS Society of Manitoba flag at city hall today to recognize June as ALS Awareness Month.
“For us and the more than 3,000 Canadians living with ALS, this month is an opportunity to talk more about this fatal disease and give people the opportunity to learn about how important supporting those living with ALS everyday is,” said Diana Rasmussen, executive director of the ALS Society.
The life-limiting disease will see 90% of people diagnosed die within three to five years. The ALS Society provides support to help maintain independence and make informed decisions about their care.
The flag will be raised at 9:30 a.m.
