Music fans attending Dauphin’s Countryfest and the Winnipeg Folk Festival this year will remain connected with their cell phones due to a signal boost in the areas.

MTS is deploying small cell wireless service at each of the venues permanently, ensuring future events will also be disruption-free.

Small cell wireless technology provides distributed coverage and capacity to areas of high population density up to 150 Mbps. Customers can expect 4G LTE speeds on par with what they would expect in Winnipeg or Brandon.

“These festivals have approximately 15,000 people in attendance at any given time, and MTS is pleased to provide this technology to help them stay connected,” said MTS president Kelvin Shepherd.

MTS has a network-sharing agreement with Rogers, meaning customers with Rogers service will also benefit from the technology.
